I recently discovered Gargyle and really like all that they have to offer.  They have fun, unique labels and a pretty good range to select from.  They have kind of a strange inspiration which apparently stems from the early country club lifestyle.  I get more of a eclectic mix feel from them but I like their clothes nonetheless.  My favorites: this poncho (boy, do I like ponchos), these Rachel Comey ankle boots, and  this cute dress.

I’m pretty excited about this website of the week because it’s a new favorite of mine.  I just discovered it the other day (if you already knew about it I’m sorry) and I like almost everything on the site.  Need Supply Co. started off selling jeans in 1996 and has since then expanded to cool street wear and the store in Virginia has been named one of the top 100 places to buy denim in the US by Nylon Magazine.  The prices are mostly pretty reasonable and they have a cool selection of designers.  My favorites: the Delta Sweater, this camel coat, and these wedges.    And fellas, if any of you do read this blog… they have some great mens clothes too.

Opened first in Wimbledon by husband and wife duo Tom and Ruth Chapman in 1990, Matches has expanded to a sick, aesthetically pleasing online store and a total of thirteen physical stores.  Can they open one in NY so I can go sometime soon??  They have a pretty wide variety of labels, and here are my favorite pieces: this American Vintage sweater dress, a fun Elizabeth & James tunic, and this beautiful DVF party dress.

Aloha Rag has been around since 1992 in Oahu, but it wasn’t until more recently that they updated the look of their website.  I love the new setup and I’ve been checking it every week now.  My faves: Current/Elliot x Marni jeans, Golden Goose sheepskin boots, and these singular Lena Wald earrings.  Looks like I have to make it to Oahu to check out the really cool store now… although there is one in NYC too.   FYI: Missoni Converse will be on the site starting September 29th… they’re beautiful.

Website of the Week… for the Fellas!

August 13, 2010

Well, I’ve been told I should do something to help out the guys by providing them with their own Website of the Week.  Let me say… it’s a much harder world out there for you guys to find a cool, normal website for buying clothes online.  So here’s my first one for the fellas: Tobi.  Tobi was one of the only websites I could find that had: a normal look to it, was moderately priced and had great clothes for guys.  Favorites: this Ernest Hemingway-esque button-down, this cool windbreaker and these sweet Alife sneakers. Favorites for girls: this cute blouse, a Comme des Garçons cardigan and this adorable dress. They also have a stylist available to chat most of the time, which is pretty cool.

Acne‘s website is the first website of the week for a single label.  They just redid it and I love the pink they chose as the background color.  I knew about Acne before, but one of my favorite bloggers, Norwegian Hanneli Mustaparta, reintroduced me to it.   I can’t say I love the name of the brand, but the website is really lovely looking.  Acne was started as a unisex jean company in 1996 in Stockholm, Sweden and has since grown into a full-fledged brand. They still make great jeans, which you can find on the website.  They have a cool blog “The Journal” and Hanneli wears Acne all the time on her site.  My favorites are these INSANE platform booties (which Hanneli has a powder blue version of), this dress and this really sweet fringe suede jacket.

The Website of this Week is MyTheresa.com.  Another designer clothing website, MyTheresa was established in 2006.  It is Germany’s top online retailer and has new items every Tuesday.  The actual My Theresa in Munich, Germany has been there since 1987.  Similar to SSENSE.com, its location is a negative for shipping, but if there’s a hard-to-find item you’re looking for, it’s the place to look.  My favs: Marc by Marc Jacobs skirt, Halston Heritage dress, K. Jacques St. Tropez sandals and this sick Miu Miu necklace.

theOutnet.com is the little sister site to net-a-porter.com.  Started almost exactly a year ago, the Outnet offers “chic-onomics” and clothing that are almost hand-me-downs from big sister net-a-porter and other various places.  There are insanely good deals on the Outnet (basically an online outlet) and if you saw something on Net-a-Porter that you thought was great but far too expensive, check on the Outnet in a few months and you’ll usually be able to find it.  I always find great deals there and right now I like: this Halston coat, Missoni coat and these Jimmy Choo booties.  Also remember to check out their 1st Birthday Party $1 sale that you have to RSVP for.  These clothes for $1 is UNREAL!!!

This post probably shouldn’t be called website of the week, but more like website of my life.  I’ve alluded to this website in other website of the week posts because it is THE best.  Founded by Natalie Massenet and recently sold to LVHM rival,  Richemont, Net-a-Porter is my go-to website for all my clothes (in my dreams).  Net-a-Porter always offers the best selection of designer clothing and has a lot of exclusives with labels.  They have a digital magazine and new clothes on Mondays and Wednesdays (used to be just Mondays and it was the best day of my life when they started having it on Wednesdays too… only thing I look forward to that day).  Five favorites from the website: Chloé gladiators, Fendi canvas tote, Miu Miu cropped sweater, Paul & Joe Sister denim mini dress and this crazy Erikson Beamon headband.  So there is the website of my life, kinda like Kid Cudi’s Soundtrack 2 My Life (the video for it dropped today).  Net-a-Porter is often way too expensive, but I think its fun to look at anyway… and they have crazy sales.  New arrivals today so check ’em out.

Shopbop.com is where I started my online shopping addiction.  Thanks to Shopbop, I’ve filled my closet since sixth grade and been a nuisance to my mother.  Poor Momma Pleezy must get hundreds of emails a year from me with an exponential increase during Christmas and other various holidays.  There’s one more website that I share as my number one but I’ll post that next Monday.  This website is definitely much more well known than the other websites of the week, but it’s so good.  There are new arrivals EVERY DAY except Sunday and I love being able to look at new clothes and accessories regularly.  Shopbop began as a shop in Madison, Wisconsin called Bop (which is still there and I need to visit it) in 1999 and was acquired by Amazon in 2006 and it just keeps getting better and better with time. I could go on for hours about  shopbop so you’ll have to just see for yourself.  Things I like: vintage Chanel earrings, this Chris Benz dress, and anything Genetic Denim.  P.S. If you’re looking for jeans, there’s no where better, they have every brand imaginable.
